Delegate Freitas Unveils Resolution Honoring Polish-American Revolutionary War Hero
MP and delegate to the General Assembly of the state of Virginia Nick Freitas submitted an official resolution on proclaiming the day of 15th October as the official day of General Tadeusz Kościuszko in Virginia.
On October, 16 this year a celebration devoted to the resolution on proclaiming the day of 15th October as the official day of General Tadeusz Kościuszko in Virginia took place in Charlottesville. A draft resolution was presented by the MP and delegate to the General Assembly of the state of Virginia Nick Freita, who said during the celebration: “Kościuszko embodies everything that makes the United States a unique country. Kościuszko was a visionary and leader, striving for individual freedom, abolition of slavery and various other values that are safeguarded by the Constitution of the United States. I am greatly honoured to be able to present a resolution that acknowledges and promotes the contribution of General Kościuszko to the establishment of the United States of America.”
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the state authorities, including: the Speaker of the House Kirk Cox, Steve Landes (Chairman of the Commission of Education and Vice Chairman of the Budget Commission), university representatives including Gene Schutt – President of the Foundation of the prestigious University of Virginia, Dean of the Faculty of Art and Science – Baucom, business representatives and also exceptional Poles living in Virginia.
The idea of the resolution was initiated by the leaders of the Polish – American Foundation – Alliance for Innovation and the President of the Polish National Foundation – Maciej Świrski. The celebration in Charlotesville, which attracted many influential VIPs keen on Poland and Poles took place thanks to the support and engagement of Ms. Honorary Consul of the Republic of Poland – Blanka Rosenstiel and the Polish National Foundation represented by its President Maciej Świrski.
