We are happy to inform that Katy Winckworth-Prejsnar (Senior Manager of Global Policy and Strategic Alliances at the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, NCCN) presented the successes in adapting oncology guidelines resulting from Polish-American collaboration and showcased future opportunities in this field during the 10th edition of the Warsaw Oncology Conference.

This great opportunity is a result from the long-term cooperation between, the Maria Skłodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology, National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) and the Alliance For Innovation Foundation.

A key highlight of the conference was the discussion of the pilot project for adapting patient guidelines titled “One Voice, One Direction,” presented by Kamil Dolecki (President of the Sarcoma Association) and Dr hab. n. med. Bożena Cybulska-Stopa (representative of the Polish Oncological Society).

‘’One Voice, One Direction’’ is a project lead by AFI with the main goal to increase public awareness about new advancements in oncology. The exchange of experiences and cooperation between patient, medical, and scientific organizations from Poland and the United States aims to promote the latest methods of cancer diagnosis and treatment and to improve patient access to innovative therapies. Our initiative is addressed to oncological patient organizations that play a huge role in raising oncological awareness and supporting patients in the difficult treatment process. Because of our experience and cooperation with experts, we are able to provide professional support in the development and implementation of these guidelines, adapting them to specific needs and local realities, which will contribute to improving the quality of care for oncology patients.

The conference took place on May 21, 2024, in Warsaw and achieved a record number of registrations, gathering nearly 400 participants. Among the registrants were representatives of many esteemed institutions from Poland and the USA, such as the Ministry of Health, the Medical Research Agency (ABM), the Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System (AOTMiT), the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), the Medical Society of Virginia (MSV), and the branches of the National Institute of Oncology in Krakow and Gliwice.
